House Call Vet Service

Veterinary care in the comfort of your home

For some pets, travelling to the clinic can be stressful or simply not practical. Daisy Hill Vet offers a house call service that allows your pet to be examined and cared for in the familiar environment of your home. Our mobile clinic is a custom-fitted veterinary ambulance designed to safely bring professional veterinary care to your door.

A mobile clinic designed for patient comfort

Our house call vehicle is a former human ambulance that has been converted into a fully equipped veterinary mobile clinic. It is air-conditioned and fitted with purpose-built equipment so we can safely examine and treat pets during home visits. The van also contains custom-built transport cages and oxygen, allowing us to safely support and transport patients to or from the clinic when needed, particularly if they are unwell or recovering from surgery.

What we offer during a house call

Many common veterinary services can be performed during a home visit, including:

  • Vaccinations
  • Blood testing
  • Skin, itch and lump checks
  • Lameness and arthritis examinations
  • Palliative and end-of-life care
  • At-home euthanasia in a calm and familiar setting
  • Transport to or from the clinic when required

If your pet requires further investigation or treatment, we can organise this directly with our clinic.

Backed by a full veterinary hospital

One of the key advantages of Daisy Hill Vet’s house call service is that it is supported by our fully equipped veterinary hospital.  If your pet requires surgery, dental treatment or hospital care, you are already consulting with the veterinarian who can perform the procedure. This provides continuity of care and avoids the need to start again with an unfamiliar clinic.

Who attends the visit

House call appointments are performed by one of our senior veterinarians, supported by a fully qualified veterinary nurse. Having two experienced team members present allows us to safely handle pets, perform procedures and provide the same professional standard of care you would expect in the clinic.

When a house call may be helpful

A home visit can be particularly beneficial for:

  • Cats and pets that find travel stressful
  • Anxious or reactive animals
  • Pets with mobility problems
  • Pets recovering from surgery
  • Palliative or end-of-life care
  • Owners with busy schedules or family commitments

Many pets are noticeably calmer when examined at home.

Safe transport to and from the clinic

In some situations, your pet may still need hospital care after the visit. Our vehicle allows us to safely transport patients to the clinic when required. This is particularly helpful for pets that are unwell, recovering from surgery or unable to travel comfortably.
