Signs of dental disease

Not sure if your petootht has dental disease?  It may be time to take a look inside your pets mouth!  We tell you the signs of dental disease to look for.

Regular dental checks of your pets mouth will allow you to keep on top of their oral hygiene.   Treating the signs of dental disease early can and will save you time and money.  This could be incorporated with their bath time or prehaps when they are just cuddled up on your lap.   It should become a very important part in looking after your pet.

 What to look for in the mouth?

Lift the lip on your pets mouth and look for red swollen or bleeding gums.

Smell your pets mouth, if it smells then there is probally a good chance of dental disease.

Look for loose, moving,  broken or damaged teeth.  Take notice of any gum recession and drooling around the mouth.

Look for discoloured teeth, you may see brownish build up on teeth, or yellow staining and in severe cases yellowish discharge like pus around the teeth.

One or all of these signs means dental disease for your pet.  Left untreated dental disease leads to poor overall health in your pet.  So book in today for a dental procedure or dental check.
