Cat fur can only hold so much heat. Do not make the mistake of assuming that your cats do not require any extra heat to help to help keep them warm and healthy during winter.
Add bedding to a cats bed… let your cats snuggle up with you underneath blankets to help keep them retain body heat and warm up. For outside cats, provide adequate shelter with bedding and straw on beds for extra insulation. Keep outside cats locked up in garages or bedding low traffic areas.
Electric heating pads…heated beds and mats keep cats warm in winter, however, when using any electric product on your pet it’s important to do your research and choose a reputable brand for safety reasons.
Maintain a regular feeding schedule for your cats throughout winter. Leave water and food bowls in draft free areas, or a nice sunny area.
Lastly please be aware, as temperatures drop cats will sometimes seek warmth under cars and trucks, even snuggle up in engine compartments. Check under the car and even give a tap on the roof just to be sure!
