Does your cat eat too fast?

If you own a cat who’s a “good eater,” meaning they “wolf” down their food in the blink of an eye, you’re probably also dealing with the occasional reappearance of just-eaten food all over your floor. We have some simple solutions you can try to solve this problem.
Firstly, letting your cat play with their food not only provides greater enrichment for them, it slows them down between bites. Your cat can enjoy savouring the taste until the very last bite.

paw Slow feeders, are a great way to provide exactly this. The holes in the feeder allow your cat to play and grab at the kibble giving them a sense of “catching their food”. As the small amounts of kibble fall out your cat can knock it around the floor until they are ready to eat it.

catSlow feeders come in a range of styles and options. Some can be  programmed to release small meals on a schedule.  Search for them online for a variety of choices and prices.

For a simpler and non- expensive option, scatter your cat’s food out over a large area on the floor so they have to slow down as they move from bite to bite.

You could think about recycling some of those old ice cube trays or muffins tins. Dividing meals among the sections in the ice cube tray or mini muffin tin again slowing them down between bites.
