Swimming my dog

Can I swim my dog? Why yes you can!

dogs

These dogs are enjoying a great exercise and having fun!

Have you ever said “my dog loves the water”!?  If so, swimming could be the next best exercise for your dog!  We see many dogs come into the clinic who either cant  walk due to injuries, arthritis, being very obese or prehaps the owners themselves are unable to go on long walks.

Swimming is a great alternative to walking,  it’s low impact and the bonus is  you can sit back and watch your dog have fun!
Swimming is great  for dogs of all size and ages.  Swimming provides therapeutic relief for arthritis, stiffness and muscle wastage for our senior dog.  Did you know life jackets are available for dogs!

Not all dogs can swim, but they can learn.  Canine Cubby (the local dog pool at Yatala)  provides swimming lessons and hydortherapy sessions.  We have great feedback from our clients about their service and facilities.

Check out all Canine Cubby’s information at: www.caninecubby.com.au

If you have a young dog, and just need to add more enrichment to their life, or increase their fitness  swimming provides this.

We also head to the  beach on Sundays, for another option for  swimming our pooches.   A day of sun and sand can be loads of fun, and you know your dog will come home and collapse on the floor after all that exercise!

Happy dogs live healthy lives.

Don’t forget the sunsreen and fresh water for your dog, never let your dog drink the salt water!

We also tell everyone to  rinse your dogs coat out of all the sand and rinse ears out with a pet ear cleaner  to prevent any skin or ear infections occuring.
